Constructing the Truncated Icosahedron (20 hexagons and 12 pentagons)
To construct the geometric net of 20 hexagons and 12 pentagons you will need to do the following:
1.
Print out each page
2. You will need to form a team of six and co-operate together to construct and colour in the various parts
of the geometric net.
3. When finished colouring in, cut around the outside thick black lines of the net.
4. Fold all the dotted lines backwards.
5. Glue up the tabs to form up the shape. There should now be six partially formed parts of the geometric net.
6. Join each glued up form to the central piece of the geometric net.
The correct position of each of the forms is shown by the appropriate black triangles, so glue like to
like. Do one shape at a time and glue all the tabs to form the new partial completed geometric
shape. All five pieces need to be attached to the central part to complete the project.
